All five of Carroll County’s seniors drove in a run May 15 as the Lady Cavaliers defeated Radford 10-0 in a Three Rivers District clash on Senior Night in Hillsville.

Senior Emily Cook pitched a four-hit shutout and drove in a run for Carroll County (15-3, 8-2 Three Rivers District). Meanwhile, fellow senior Alexis Meredith went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Katie McKenzie drove in two runs and scored another, and Chloe Easter went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Senior Kayleigh Webb also drove in a run for the Cavaliers.

Carroll took control right out of the gate with three runs in the first inning. Cook reached on a fielder’s choice and moved up on a Taylor Spangler single. Both runners scored on McKenzie’s two-run double to center field. Chloe Easter later reached on an error and McKenzie scored on Logan Johnson’s RBI single to center for a 3-0 lead.

Meredith led off the second inning with a double to center. She scored on a Laken Crockett double to left center for a 4-0 advantage.

Carroll went on to win by the mercy rule after scoring six more runs in the fourth inning. Meredith and Crockett opened the frame with back-to-back singles. Cook then drove in Meredith with a base hit. Taylor Spangler reached on an error and Chloe Easter and Logan Johnson followed with RBI singles. Kayleigh Webb and Abi Easter both drew bases-loaded walks to drive in two more before Meredith’s RBI single plated another run for a 10-0 advantage.

Crockett went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Carroll in the win and Johnson was 2-for-3 with a run and 2 RBI.
