Investigation underway in large rash of car break-ins in Carroll


The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police are investing 34 incidents of cars being entered and money and firearms being stolen during the night-time hours of September 25 and the early morning hours of September 26.

According to Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner, the larcenies reported occurred in the areas of Commonwealth Road, Glendale Road, Fairway Oaks Drive, Winterberry Drive, Regency Court, and the Courtland Circle and Shady Square subdivisions.

“Entry into most of the vehicles was made by simply opening the unlocked doors and removing items from the interior. At least two of the cars, windows were broken out to gain entry,” Gardner said. “No homes have been reported as broken into or damaged. Several homes had video systems and those videos are being reviewed in search of clues.”
