Tractor-trailer collision causing delays on I-77

At 3:16 a.m. Friday, Virginia State Police Senior Trooper C.H. Campbell responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in Carroll County.

A northbound tractor-trailer was rear-ended by a FedEx double tractor-trailer at the 6 mile marker. The impact of the crash caused the FedEx truck to catch fire. Neither driver was injured in the crash.

The first tractor-trailer was hauling recyclable plastics and the FedEx trailers were loaded with mixed cargo.

Motorists can expect delays due to a tractor trailer accident. The North center lane, right lane, and right shoulder are closed. Traffic backups were listed as approximately 3.5 miles as of 9:11 a.m. Friday morning.
