A Hillsville man has been sentenced to serve 22 years in prison on drug charges.

According to Carroll County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nathan H. Lyons, the sentence was handed down in Carroll County Circuit Court on Nov. 29 by Judge Brett Geisler. Geisler sentenced James “Crow” Parnell Peaks to serve 22 years after a jury found him guilty for possession of more than 10 grams of methamphetamine.

Lyons noted Peaks had an extensive criminal history with multiple felonies over the past two decades, which played a part in Peaks’ lengthy prison sentence. Peaks, 52, is currently being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin.
