Cana woman injured in head-on collision

A Cana woman was seriously injured in a head-on collision Tuesday in Cana.

According to Virginia State Police reports, the accident occurred at 3:25 p.m. on August 16 on U.S. 52 about two-tenths of a mile south of Meadowbrook Road. William Aaron Hackler, 29, of Cana, was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crossed double solid lines before hitting a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by Crystal Dawn Guynn, 36, of Cana. According to the report, Guynn was transported to Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, N.C. for treatment of serious injuries. Two of her passengers were also transported for minor injuries, according to the police report, while Hackler was uninjured.

Investigating Trooper J.D. Delp charged Hackler with reckless driving. He estimated damages to Hackler’s vehicle at $5,000 and damages to Guynn’s vehicle at $4,000.
