Elma Jean “Sissy” Mabe, 75, of Austinville, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Mabe was born in Carroll County to the late John William and Pearlie Beasley Horton. Survivors include her husband, Lee Mabe of the home; children and spouses, Debbie and Doug Sutphin of Galax, Eric and Lisa Mabe of Hillsville, Miles Mabe of Austinville, and Sheila and Mike Pena of Homestead, FL; sisters, Mae Carter of Austinville, Artie Belle Primm of Hillsville, and Rubye Edwards of Hillsville; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Vera Horton of Austinville; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren. A graveside service with burial following will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Beasley Cemetery with Pastor Harry Shelton and Pastor Cas Horton officiating. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A guestbook is available online by visiting www.vaughanguynnandmcgrady.com.
