With a 2-18 record, it wasn’t a shock that Carroll County did not place anyone on the All-Southwest District boys’ basketball team. The Cavaliers were honored with four honorable mention selections, however, in seniors Tyler Reavis and Adam Crotts, junior Mac Martin and freshman Ryan Gravely.

A 6-2, 190-pound post player, Crotts averaged a double-double in 2009-2010, leading the team with 12.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest. Despite being outsized almost every outing, Crotts provided the Cavaliers with a much-needed post presence. He also led the team in offensive rebounds (67), blocks (5), made free throws (68) and field goal percentage (44.8 percent). Crotts was also fourth on the team in 3-point percentage (25.7 percent), second in 3-pointers made (9) and third in assists (27).

Playing both guard positions, Carroll’s offense centered around senior Tyler Reavis, who led the team in assists (5.2 per game) and steals (60). Averaging 10.2 points per game, Reavis was the Cavaliers’ third-leading scorer.

Martin provided the Cavaliers with another scoring threat this year, finishing second on the team with 11.1 points per contest. Martin also assumed a large rebounding role, finishing second on the team with 7 rebounds per game. He was also second on the team in steals (23) and made 3-pointers (9).

A freshman point guard, Gravely finished second on the team in assists with three per game. He was also Carroll’s deadliest 3-point threat, making a team-high 13 from downtown, where he made 30.2 percent of his treys. Gravely was Carroll’s second best free-throw shooter (63.6 percent). He was also third on the team in steals (18) and fifth in scoring (5.8 points per contest).

Graham’s Glynn Carlock Jr. was named SWD Coach of the Year for guiding the G-Men to the district title. Marion’s Gavin Roe was honored as SWD Player of the Year. Joining him on the All-SWD first team were Graham’s Jordan Bryan and Scott Brewster, Richlands’ Gunner McGee, and Abingdon’s Jacob Hess. The second team consisted of Graham’s David Marrs, Abingdon’s Derek Hess, John Kelly and Derek Hess of Grundy, Richlands’ Austin Johnson, and Tazewell’s Jeremiah Jessee.
