Alene Melton, 84, of Hillsville, passed away on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at Golden Living Center Blue Ridge. Mrs. Melton was born in Carroll County to the late Tilden and Dorothy Christley Vass. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Olen Melton. She is survived by her son, Barry Wade of Hillsville; sister, Bessie Noonkester of Mount Airy, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Church Cemetery.
