Mary Raye Mayberry, 72, of Galax, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Mayberry was born in Danville on May 29, 1937 to Charlie and Mary Harris Vicks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack H. Mayberry. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Bud Roberts of Galax; son, Ricky Wright of Big Stone Gap; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one step-granddaughter; two step-great-grandsons; sisters, Thelma Barber of Charlotte, NC, Martha Campbell of Danville; brothers, Daniel Vicks of Danville, Carl Vicks of GA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Moore and Rev. Fredrick Vicks officiating.
