Mr. Frank Hawks, age 75, of Lambsburg, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 20, 1934, the third son of Dixie B. and Grace Cooley Hawks. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his sons, Gene Hawks of Woodlawn and Ricky Hawks of Lambsburg; daughters, Betsy Hawks of Mount Airy, NC and Susan Hawks of Fancy Gap; grandchildren, Katie and Jamie Nunn, Austin Worrell, Ethan Hawks, Dakota Hawks and Riley Horton; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas and Mary Kay Hawks of Hillsville and Johnny Hawks of Lambsburg. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Mary Alice Martin and Nancy Helton and brothers, Neal Hawks and D. B. Hawks, Jr. Frank worked for thirty two years in Carroll County Schools as a teacher, principal, visiting teacher and Project Director of Head Start. He was a charter member of the Lambsburg Ruritan Club serving numerous terms as President and Treasurer. He was a member of the Galax Moose Lodge No. 733. He served on the Board of Directors at Lambsburg Community Center. A lifelong member of the Lambsburg Christian Church, he served as an elder and Chairman of the Board. He was a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher, taught the youth class and later the adult class. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Lambsburg Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lambsburg Christian Church at P.O.
