Mrs. Gillie Ada Marshall Crotts
Mrs. Gillie Ada Marshall Crotts, age 97, of 93 Dalton Drive, Cana, passed away on Monday July 20, 2009 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Hillsville. Mrs. Crotts was born in Carroll County on May 13, 1912 daughter of the late Banner Marshall and Lucinda Hiatt Marshall. Mrs. Crotts retired from Carolina Foods. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. Mrs. Crotts loved the Lord and was a devoted witness and a dedicated member of True Vine Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Clifford Hall of Hillsville and Carolyn and Claude Worrell of Abingdon; a son, Bobby Crotts of Cana; daughter-in-law, Ruby Crotts of Cana; ten grandchildren, Ricky Rudisill, Deborah Cagle, Chris Rudisill, Brandon Rudisill, Michael Worrell, Curtis Crotts, Jr., Timmy Crotts, Donnie Marshall, Diana Coalson and Delight Marshall; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a friend and caregiver, Collene Puckett and a special dog “Clyde” who visited the nursing home each week. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crotts was preceded in death by her husband, Clovest Crotts and by two sons, Curtis Crotts and Billy Marshall and one granddaughter, Charlene Hawks and two brothers, Joe and Tommy Marshall. Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at True Vine Baptist Church. The service was conducted by Rev. Rawley “Dink” Haynes, Jr. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Hillsville for the loving care that was given to Mrs. Crotts during her stay.
