This tournament is held in memory of Staci Banks Wertman, who grew up in Carroll County and taught special education in Carroll and Surry (N.C.) counties. The tournament benefits the Staci B. Wertman Scholarship that was started by the Carroll County Wellness Center.
The scholarship is presented yearly to a graduating Carroll County High School senior (currently $1,500 a year and growing) who will be going into Special Education.
Check-in will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Aug. 8, with lunch provided from 12:15 to 1 p.m. A 1:30 p.m. shotgun start is scheduled. Tournament format is 18-hole captain’s choice. Cost is $60 per golfer or $240 per team. The top three teams will receive cash prizes as well as long ball and closest to the pin competitions.
Sponsorships are available at the following levels — Bronze, $200 for a tee or green; Gold, $350 for one entire hole; Platinum, $550 for one team and an entire hole. Please contact Janet Banks at (276) 728-2048 to register. Deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 4.
