As a life coach, much of Kathi Mineer’s time is spent motivating and encouraging others to achieve their goals. Now, the Arizona-turned-Carroll County woman wants to take it a step further.
Mineer, owner of life coaching business Under Construction, wants to help other women in the Twin Counties start and succeed in their own entrepreneurial endeavors. To help achieve that end, she has organized the Dare to Dream Women’s Expo and Fashion Show that will be held April 25 at the Crossroads Institute in Galax.
“It is an entrepreneurial motivational event for women to encourage them to be in business. My whole motivation is to inspire and motivate women to dream,” Mineer said. “I believe there is a desire for it here and I believe that women just need to know that they can do it. (This is a way to) have somebody to help them start to do it and breathe life into it and help them go.”
Local businesswomen and artisans are invited to come set up their wares at the Dare to Dream Expo for networking opportunities. There will also be a pair of business seminars from 10 a.m. until noon. A web design seminar will be conducted by local entrepreneur Mitone Griffith, while internationally-known author and motivational entrepreneur Terri Dunevant will speak about being in business for yourself.
“Dutch-treat” lunch will be available on site, followed by the fashion show at 1 p.m. Everything donated to the fashion show will be given out to different charities in the community, Mineer said.
After the fashion show, there will be a comedy skit, titled “The Dodo Bird,” followed by Mineer, who will close the event with a Dare to Dream speech.
“Part of it is catered to women that have their business or want to have one, but this is for all women whether they have a business or not,” Mineer said. “It is something fun to do. We want them to have a hoodoo of a time and laugh and play and get to know each other.”
Mineer encourages women of all ages and all walks of life to join her and others for what she promises will be a good time.
“Young and old, it doesn’t matter what they look like, their race, or their culture, all women are invited to come,” Mineer said. “It is free of charge, so they can just come. There will be door prizes and they will get lots of goodies if they are there. We just want them to come and let their hair down and see if they can’t find some place to hang their dream.”
At the same time, Mineer said there will be everything on hand at the Expo for an interested woman to start her own business on the spot.
“We will have photos taken, we will give them their own business cards and we will help them start a business that day,” Mineer said. “Many of them can start a business that day for $100 if they want to do that.”
Doors open at 9 a.m. and the Dare to Dream Women’s Expo and Fashion Show will continue until 4 p.m. For more information, go to www.DaretoDreamExpo.com or call (276) 733-3979.
