Carroll County’s boys’ basketball team will not have to leave Hillsville for the Southwest District and Region IV Tournaments.

By virtue of winning the regular-season district championship, Carroll County (21-1) will host to the SWD Tournament semifinals and finals. The boys are scheduled to play the winner of the Richlands-Tazewell play-in game on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in a semifinal at 7 p.m. at CCHS. On Friday, tournament action will resume at CCHS beginning with the Consolation Game at 5 p.m., followed by the JV Championship at 6:30 p.m., and the Varsity Championship at 8 p.m.

The Carroll boys will also host the Region IV Tournament from Feb. 18-22 at CCHS. If Carroll does not receive a first-round bye, it would play at home on Feb. 18. As long as the Cavaliers are still alive, they will play at home in the regional semifinals Feb. 20 and the regional championship on Feb. 22.

The postseason is a little more complicated for the girls. After losing its one-game playoff Feb. 11 against Richlands, the Lady Cavaliers will host a SWD Tournament semifinal on Thurs., Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. The tournament will conclude Saturday, Feb. 16 at Richlands beginning with the Consolation Game at 5 p.m., the JV Championship at 6:30 p.m., and the Varsity Championship at 8 p.m.

On the girls’ side, the Region IV Tournament will be held Feb. 19, 20 and 22 at Magna Vista High School. Carroll could possibly host a Region IV quarterfinal on Feb. 19, but that was not determined as of press time.
