Susan Artie Vaughn Lindsey, 91, passed quietly away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Quentin Lindsey. She was one of 11 children, born in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Carroll County, Va., to John and Effie Margaret Vaughn. Although a resident of Richmond for the last 53 years, Susan never forgot her mountain roots and always looked forward to the yearly Vaughn family reunions in Laurel Ridge, Va. She was the last sibling to pass. Up until a few years ago, Susan had been an active member of Bethany Place Baptist Church in Chesterfield County. She was an avid gardener, and those who knew her marveled over her ability to bring any dying plant to life. Quilting was another hobby that she enjoyed, along with collecting dolls. She is survived by her two sons, Robert and Michael, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl; two grandchildren, Amanda of Richmond and Timothy, his wife, Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Quinn of Alpharetta, Ga. The family will receive friends at Bliley’s-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012. There will be a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012.
