Charles Evans Ridge 96, of Hillsville passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital with his wife Betty at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Charles Edmond Ridge and Mary Lee Cranford Ridge; brother, James E. Ridge; sister, Inez Ridge Farabee; an infant sister; mother of his children Ruth Brown Ridge. Other survivors are his wife Betty Key Ridge; daughters Ruthie Griggs, twins Jane Burton and Jean Crist; son and beloved daughter-in-law, Elliott and Hope Ridge. Three nieces Laura R. Sinclair, Jamie Ridge, and Vanessa Farabee; and a nephew, Kevin Farabee survive their uncle. He was a loving, mentoring grandfather to fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great ones. Many of these celebrated with him at his 96th birthday on July 23. A graveside service will be held at Wilkinson Cemetery on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be Reverends Ty Harrison, John DuVall, and David Bays who will conduct Masonic Rites. There will be no formal visitation. Memorials may be made to Hillsville FUMC P.O. The family expressed gratitude to Wheatland Staff, and fellow residents for three years of care and love and Twin County Regional Hospital 2nd floor nursing staff for their loving care.
