A Woodlawn woman has been charged with failure to yield right of way after a motor vehicle crash Sept. 10 in Hillsville.

According to the Hillsville Police Department, Christopher Lee Donithan, 36, of Hillsville, was traveling south on Route 221 at approximately 2:15 p.m in a 2000 Chrysler van when a 1998 Ford pickup operated by Gail Emily Golden, 63, of Woodlawn turned in front of the van. HPD Interim Police Chief Jason Hawks said Golden’s actions caused Donithan’s vehicle to strike a concrete curb, causing the van to overturn on its top in the parking lot of NAPA Auto Parts in Hillsville.

The Hillsville Fire Department and Carroll EMS also arrived on scene to assist, Hawks said. Three juveniles were in the vehicle with Donithan, but Hawks said no major injuries occurred because of the accident. Golden was charged with failure to yield right of way.
