Murder suspect arrested in Lambsburg

A single-vehicle accident near Lambsburg led to the arrest of a murder suspect Sunday.

According to Virginia State Police Spokesman Sgt. Michael Conroy, Trooper Ronnie D. Horton was dispatched to a single vehicle property damage accident on Route 620 in the Lambsburg area of Carroll County near the North Carolina Line on Sunnday at 7:58 p.m. As a result of the crash investigation, John Michael Mason, 27, of Stuarts Draft,  was charged with DUI, resisting arrests, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

It was also discovered that Mason was wanted by the Staunton Police Department on three felony warrants, including first degree murder. The Virginia State Police is assisting the Staunton Police Department with the murder investigation and processing evidence related to the investigation. Mason was being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail onn Monday.
