Matt Coble will represent Carroll County in the Group AA Cross Country Meet in Warrenton on Nov. 8.

Coble qualified for the state meet by placing 10th in the Region IV Cross Country championships Thursday in Christiansburg. Coble also earned All-Region IV honors for finishing the 3.1-mile course in 17:12. Carroll’s Kendall Haynes and Matt Felts also had good showings. Haynes placed 26th with a time of 18:25, while Felts was 27th with a time of 18:28. The top 15 advanced to the state meet.

Blacksburg’s Matt Howard claimed the individual region championship by finishing the course in 16:24. Blacksburg’s George Carter finished third and the Bruins placed four runners in the top 11 to claim the team title with a score of 36. Christiansburg was second (69), followed by Abingdon (76), Cave Spring (104), Hidden Valley (116), Martinsville (196), Carroll County (205), Tazewell (230), Marion (242), Bassett (283), Patrick County (307) and Magna Vista (308).

Other Carroll participants were Seth Webb (21:40), Carson Gallimore (22:30), Bennie Bolen (22:50) and Josh Edwards (23:31).
