Lura Mandlean Fields, 86, of Galax passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born March 27, 1925 in Fancy Gap to the late Callie & Earnest Davis. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by husband, Floyd Fields & husband, James Lewis; a son, Dale Lewis & a brother, Ronald Lewis. Survivors include two daughters, Louise Lewis, Janie Harper & husband, George all of Galax; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Lewis of Galax; two sons, Jimmy & Sammy Lewis both of Galax; four brothers, Sidney Davis & wife, Joyce, Carl Davis, Jack Davis & wife, Nelly & Earnest Davis & wife, Diane all of Galax; two sisters, Mildred Waters of GA & Thelma Walker of Galax; step mother, Otie Davis of Galax; six grandchildren, Tina Crowder, Debbie Fields, George Harper, Roger Lewis, Terry Fortner & Victoria Lewis all of Galax; eleven great grandchildren, Amber McFarland, Brandon & Taylor Crowder, Anjelica, Faith & Brianna Lewis, Brooke Hampton, TJ Fortner, George, IV & Gregory Harper & Gabriella Romans; one great great grandchild, Nathaniel McFarland; several nieces & nephews; special friend, Sara Ward also survives. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Twin County Funerals Sanctuary beginning at 2pm. The Rev. Jay Fields will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishops Chapel Cemetery in Galax. There will be no visitation. Twin County Funerals is serving the Fields family.
