The Arts & Cultural Council of the Twin Counties raised $1,920 during its Empty Bowls fundraiser at the First United Methodist Church in Hillsville on March 22. The pileup took place at approximately 1 p.m. Virginia State Police Spokesman Mike Conroy said dense fog was a major factor.
