The Gladesboro Elementary School community is pulling together to help the family of Ray Semones, the local man tragically killed in a hunting accident Jan. 1.

On January 26 from 4 to 6 p.m., Gladesboro School will hold a spaghetti dinner at the school to help the family in their time of need.

“One of his sons was in school here last year,” said Gladesboro Elementary School Principal Linda King. “We just want to help that family. The Gladesboro community is truly a family. Our school community rallies together when people are in need. With any tragedy there is a financial need, and we are just trying to pull together to help.”

The menu will consist of spaghetti, salad, desert, drinks, coffee and tea. King said the school also hopes to have a cake auction that day. Cost will be by donation. The school has enlisted the help of many local churches, and King said anyone willing to help serve food, make a donation of cook food is asked to call the Gladesboro Elementary office at 398-2493.

“All help is greatly appreciated,” King said. “People can help in different ways.”

Anyone wanting to make a monetary donation can make a check to Gladesboro School, earmarked in the memo section for the Semones benefit. Tax deductible receipts will be given for such donations.

“We are all saddened by this tragic hunting accident. As a school community we want to support this family. We’re planning the spaghetti supper, and hopefully 400 or 500 people or more will show up. Here is how you can help, attend the benefit, donate food, prepare the food, serve the food and just pray for this family and the event,” King said. “We live in a great community here in Gladesboro and I’m sure they will rally behind this family.”

In case of inclement weather, the benefit would be held Sunday, Jan. 27, from 3-5 p.m.

Why don’t countries like us?
Ever wonder which countries hate the United States the most. We are hated by a lot of countries, but we really can’t help it. We were just born with a strong personality and, quite possibly, a bi-polar disorder. Nevertheless, we are hated, that’s for sure. Either other countries want us to stay ...
