Dawn Auction Co. will be selling an Oak Parlor table said to have been made by Sidna Allen at Public Auction on March 16, 2013.

The table has a hand written note attached to it with the following: Oak Table bought around 1948 at Sidna Allen sale by Alva McGrady – late husband of Serita Goad McGrady. Records show that Sidna Allen died in 1941 and his wife Bettie Allen died in July of 1948. While we can’t authenticate the table, DeAnn Smith, Office Manager at Dawn Auction Co., went to the Carroll County Courthouse and obtained deeds dating back to Dec. 11, 1948. This deed indicates that the Allens were not the current owners of the home, however, it was Charles K. Bolick & others. The deed also references that there was a public auction of the property conducted by J.L. Tompkins, Attorney and Commissioner for the case of Auto Spring & Bearing Company vs. Charles K. Bolick, et als (Owners of the home) in Dec. of 1946.

It was at this auction where W.R. Weddle, grandfather of the home’s current owners purchased the property. So by our conclusion this table could have very well been in the house and even made by Sidna Allen.
