Santa’s coming back to Galax on Dec. 6

Santa Claus is coming back to Galax! Santa was so impressed with all the generous souls who came to last year’s holiday extravaganza that he and Mrs. Claus and Ella the Elf will once again make a very special “early” visit on Thursday, December 6th at 7 pm at The Rex Theatre! During our annual phone call to go over the “Naught & Nice” list, Santa told the Arts Council that there were so many good and kind boys and girls in our community, that he was thrilled make another early visit to be a part of the Arts Council’s Twin Counties Holiday Extravaganza. Admission is only $5 person and everyone is encouraged to bring single-serving sized non-perishable food items for the Grayson & Galax Backpack Ministries and new toys to be donated to Rooftop of Virginia.

The evening is sure to delight your whole family! Performers include the Galax Elementary School Choir under the direction of Ms. Dawn Kinman, Joyce Rouse (aka Earth Mama) who is celebrating the release of her new cd “Blessings of the Universe”, The Heavenly Voices – a family gospel choir from Independence, Larissa Venzie - a professional marimba player from Independence who released her debut album Neshamarimba in March, 2012, Twin Counties newcomer Chad Lloyd and others! Santa will cap-off the evening with a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and will have time to take photos with audiences members afterwards.

Tickets for the Twin Counties Holiday Extravaganza are available on-line at www.artsculturalcouncil.org and at the Arts Council office, located at 608 W. Stuart Drive (in the Old Vaughan Library). Tickets can be purchased by mail – simply send a check to the Arts Council, PO Box 492, Galax, VA 24333. Please remember, cash & checks only when purchasing your tickets in person or at the box office that evening.
