A Hillsville woman has been charged with failure to yield and a female juvenile has been transported to an area hospital following a two-vehicle collision Friday in Hillsville.
According to Hillsville Police Department Officer James Dalton, Pamela Mendez-Guzman has been charged with failure to yield right-of-way after the collision on Friday at approximately 2 p.m. at the intersection of Route 221 and Route 100. Guzman was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition north on Route 221 attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Route 100 when her vehicle collided with a 1995 GMC Suburban driven by Kelly Davis, 46, of Dugspur.
A juvenile female was transported from the scene by ambulance to an area hospital with unknown injuries. With significant damage to both vehicles, Officer Dalton said the accident could have been much worse as six passengers were in one vehicle and five in the other.
He thanked the Virginia Department of Transportation for assisting with traffic control and Carroll County Fire and Rescue for a quick response.
