Carroll’s most wanted arrested in Mount Airy

Brian Keith Barr, who has been listed as one of Carroll County’s most wanted in recent weeks by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, has been arrested in Mount Airy, N.C.

According to Sheriff J.B. Gardner, Barr, 38, was arrested Thursday night at approximately 8:45 p.m. by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) along with Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson and the Surry County Swat Team. Barr was wanted by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office for possession of a stolen firearm and had a warrant in Virginia from Carroll County for a probation violation, the press release said.

Around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, members of the JFTF positively identified Barr at his residence. Upon approaching the house, Barr slammed the front door and refused to come out. JFTF quickly surrounded the residence.

“Due to the familiarity of Surry County Sheriff’s Office with Barr and preliminary reports that Barr was considered homicidal and suicidal, assistance was requested of the Surry County Swat Team by JFTF,” the press release states. “Sheriff Graham Atkinson arrived at the scene and made direct contact with Barr. Sheriff Atkinson was able to persuade Barr to surrender to the Surry County Swat Team. Barr surrendered at his residence of 2065 Fancy Gap Road and was taken into custody without incident.”

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Probation and Parole Division and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Why don’t countries like us?
Ever wonder which countries hate the United States the most. We are hated by a lot of countries, but we really can’t help it. We were just born with a strong personality and, quite possibly, a bi-polar disorder. Nevertheless, we are hated, that’s for sure. Either other countries want us to stay ...
