Hillsville woman dies in Dublin crash

A Hillsville woman died at the scene of an accident Saturday after a single-vehicle wreck on Route 100 in Pulaski County.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Misty Dawn Davis, 26, of Hillsville died at the scene of the accident. The Pulaski Sheriff’s Office, along with the Dublin Fire Department and Regional Emergency Medical Services, responded to reports of an accident with an ejection on Route 100 near New River Valley Airport in Dublin at approximately 5:50 p.m.

Once on scene, officers found a 1995 Accura Integra driven by Dustin Hodges, 24, of Max Meadows, had left the roadway traveling north on 100 before going into the median and rolling several times before ending up in the southbound lanes of Route 100. The crash ejected both the front seat and back seat passengers. Davis, the front seat passenger, died on the scene, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

Back seat passenger Justin Presgraves, 23, of Dublin, was flown from the scene with life-threatening injuries, Pulaski authorities said. Hodges had to be extricated by by the Dublin Fire Department and he was transported to the New River Valley Medical Center by ambulance before being flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Hodges was wearing a seatbelt, and Davis and Presgraves were not, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

“The accident is under investigation by Deputy Paul Holbrook with the Sheriff’s Office and is being assisted by the Claytor Lake Regional Crash team,” the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. “Speed was a factor in the accident and charges are pending.”
