McGrady clinches 6th House District nomination

Carroll County native Jonathan Lee McGrady recently completed his announcement tour of 6th District counties which included stops at the Carroll County Industrial Park, Progress Park in Wytheville and the closed Merillat plant in Smyth County.

McGrady emphasized the need to bring more jobs to the 6th district. Making his first announcement at an empty plant in Hillsville, McGrady said “we hear so much about filling empty plants which many times turn out to be empty promises. I get it. I know we need jobs.”

On April 30th, McGrady unanimously won the Democratic nomination for the 6th House of Delegate District at a Caucus in Wytheville. Former Delegate Tom Jackson nominated McGrady. He commented that, “Jonathan McGrady’s roots in this district span many generations. He still lives on the farm that he grew up on and cares deeply about people.” The 6th District is an open seat with Delegate Annie B. Crockett-Stark retiring.

McGrady is a Carroll County attorney, tree farmer, and father of three. Jonathan is an avid sportsman and staunch supporter of 2nd Amendment rights. His grandmother, mother and wife were teachers and he was a substitute teacher. He is a Mason, Shriner, Cub Scout Leader and former President of the Carroll/Grayson/Galax Chamber of Commerce. McGrady was appointed by Governor Warner to the Department of Criminal Justice Services Board where he represented private attorneys from 2005-2010. He pledged to help make the 6th District the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

Why don’t countries like us?
Ever wonder which countries hate the United States the most. We are hated by a lot of countries, but we really can’t help it. We were just born with a strong personality and, quite possibly, a bi-polar disorder. Nevertheless, we are hated, that’s for sure. Either other countries want us to stay ...

I was reading an article entitled “The Nine Most Common Airplane Accidents” and was quiet surprised that crashing and exploding into a massive ball of flame was not among them. You see, when I fly, that’s what I expect to happen. Now, I know that flying is safer than driving a car, at least th...
