The Jubal Early Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #1691 is having two events in April.
On April 26 at noon on the Historic Carroll County Courthouse Lawn, the camp will honor the 150th anniversary of the men in Company F of the 29th Virginia Infantry leaving to defend their homes from the invading armies of the north.
On April 28, the Annual Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on the Historic Carroll County Courthouse Lawn at 2 p.m. The public is encouraged to come out and honor the men from Carroll County who sacrificed so much for their freedoms and home land.
There are still a few copies of the camps’ books, Men from Carroll County and Surrounding Area that Served in the Confederate Military and The First Men from Carroll County to March off to Defend Their Land. They can be purchased at Pages Bookstore in Galax, Midway Jiffy Lube, the Carroll County Information Center at the Southwest Virginia Farmers Market at Exit 14 in Hillsvile, Omega Bookstore, Carroll County Genealogy Club and Red Hill Store on Route 100.
