A collision between a lumber truck and a vehicle left lumber all over Route 100 and Beaver Dam Road on Friday and resulted in two people being transported to area hospitals.
According to Virginia State Trooper S.M. Cochran, Stephanie Dalton, 26, of Hillsville, was traveling north on Route 100 in a 2002 Chevy Geo Tracker at approximately 11:19 a.m. and turning left into Red Hill Store when she turned in front of a Turman Lumber Truck driven by Thomas Ray Dull, 51, of Hillsville.
“He tried to miss her, but still hit her and spun her around and he went through a couple of yards and took out two trees and bushes,” Cochran said. “The truck then jumped the gulley at the intersection of Route 100 and Beaver Dam Road, which caused him to overturn.”
Both Dull and Dalton were alert and talking after the accident, but were transported to area hospitals. Cochran said he didn’t know the extent of any injuries they may have had.
Cochran charged Dalton with failure to yield right of way.
