The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is handling the investigation, the office confirmed. Sometime shortly after dark, a call went out on local police scanners relating to a gunshot and requesting a helicopter at Fancy Gap Elementary School. The helicopter was later called off.
The accident occurred near the Keno section of Laurel Fork, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday night. We will have more information as it becomes available.
