Grover King VFW Post 1115 of Hillsville will sponsor a Veterans Day parade on Saturday, November 10, beginning at 2 p.m. Participants will line up along Edgewood Drive, across from Carroll County Intermediate School, beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Any area business, individual, civic group or other organization wishing to participate may do so by showing up at the appointed time. Pre-registration is not necessary.
If three or more floats or marching units are entered, cash awards will be provided.
VFW Post 1115 also will sponsor a Veterans Day Gold Star Parents dinner and program on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11. Gold Star Parents are those that have lost sons or daughters serving in the Armed Forces of the United States who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It is not known for sure how many Gold Star Parents reside in the area, but any that do who wish to be recognized that day may contact the VFW or chairman Donald Trausneck at (276) 233-9385.
