Hillsville’s merchants and businesses will again celebrate the first Saturday of the month this weekend.

The second First Saturday Celebration, sponsored by the Greater Hillsville Civic Association, will take place along Main Street in Hillsville’s Historic Downtown on July 5.

Several businesses have planned to set up with items for sale or with other displays to help in the celebration.

Johnson Family Auto will likely have some cars around on display, while the Hardware Company Restaurant is expected to have BBQ for sale.

Dana’s Styling Salon and Nuckolls Drug will have tables while the Family Shoe Store is expected to have some sort of outdoor shoe display.

The Hale-Wilkinson-Carter Foundation is expected to have baked goods for sale, while the Carroll County Historical Society will be offering walking tours of the area.

The Woodlawn Methodist Women and EAA Chapter 1426 will also have displays or items for sale.

Other businesses expected to participate in the celebration include The Time Factory of Hillsville, Court Street Coffee Company, Omega Office Supply, Light Fantastic Stained Glass, Ideal Florist and Stagecoach.

The next First Saturday is scheduled for August 2. The celebrations will continue through October.

Anybody interested in participating in First Saturday can call Patti Ashley at the Time Factory of Hillsville at 730-0300. There, they can sign up or have the application e-mailed to them. There is a $5 charge for a station, or interested parties can join the Civic Association.
