The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 40-year-old Laurel Fork man after discovering approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana in a child’s bedroom at his residence.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Bobby Lyons went to 94 Commanche Lane in Laurel Fork on January 2 to serve felony arrest warrants on the owner. When the owner, Eric Brinegar, opened the door, Sgt. Lyons observed a strong odor or marijuana coming from the residence, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
“Upon a search of the residence, approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana was discovered in a child’s bedroom. A small indoor marijuana grow room was also discovered in an adjacent garage,” the Sheriff’s Office said in the press release. “Grow lights and other growing equipment were seized from the garage. A shotgun, approximately $3,000 in cash, and a BMW sport utility vehicle were taken from the residence.”
Additionally, Carroll County Social Services were called in to assess the home and children’s welfare because of the amount of marijuana present in the child’s bedroom, the press release stated. Brinegar was arrested for distribution of marijuana while in possession of a firearm, manufacturing marijuana, and distribution of marijuana.
The investigation is continuing, Carroll officials said.
