Carroll County made sure its first-ever River Ridge District game was a memorable one. Hosting Christiansburg on Dec. 17, the Cavaliers shut out the Blue Demons in the first quarter, opening up a 27-0 lead en route to an 86-40 blowout.

“It was a good way to start. I was just pleased with our overall effort,” said Carroll County head coach Brad Hawks, who said he can’t remember the Cavs ever shutting out an opponent for a full quarter before. “I was real pleased defensively. I thought we got up in the passing lanes, forced tempo our way and got some easy buckets right off the bat.”

Connor Lundy continued his torrid scoring pace for Carroll, leading Carroll County with 22 points. Cody Keith fired in 13 points, while Gunnar Beamer added 12 and Dane Shinault pumped in 11 points.
