Two people were airlifted from the scene of a motorcycle accident Thursday in Woodlawn.

According to Virginia State Police Master Trooper C.M. Delp, a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling west on U.S. 58 struck a deer that ran out in front of it at approximately 1:30 p.m., ejecting the driver and passenger. The accident happened 211 feet east of Route 787, near Hawks Carpet.

The driver, Mack Bernal Brown, 64, of Pounding Mill, and passenger Tina Melissa Ward were both flown out from Woodlawn School in two separate helicopters following the accident. They were airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Delp said he spoke to rescue personnel at the scene, who did not think injuries were life threatening to either individual involved in the accident.
