The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has charged 47-year-old Pamela Denise Peaks after a shooting Sunday at 2472 Carrollton Pike that appears to have stemmed from a domestic dispute.
According to investigator Donnie Spangler, Pamela Denise Peaks, 47, has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
At approximately 2 p.m. Sunday, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a possible gunshot wound at 2472 Carrollton Pike. When deputies arrived on scene, they found James Parnell Peaks, 48, lying on the side of the road with a gunshot wound. The victim was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
“He was going in for exploratory surgery this morning. That is basically all that is known right now as far as his condition or injuries,” Spangler said Monday morning.
Spangler said it is a possibility James Peaks was shot multiple times, but he couldn’t confirm or deny that at the moment.
Spangler said the investigation continues, but from what information police have been able to gather, the incident started as “a domestic situation and we went ahead and charged Mrs. Peaks with the two felonies.”
Spangler said she was taken to New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin where she was being held without bond as of Sunday night.
Someone with the name James Crow Peaks posted on his Facebook page Sunday night, “Oh my God!!! I can’t believe my wife Dee has shot me multiple times and tried to kill me!!!”
Peaks hasn’t posted since then, but his page has been filled with prayers and well-wishers from many in the Carroll County community.
