A 16-year-old juvenile has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding after the stabbing of a 17-year-old juvenile Friday night in Pipers Gap.

According to Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner, a 16-year-old juvenile was taken into custody by Galax Police Department officers and Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies in the Pipers Gap section of Carroll County on Friday night after receiving a report of a possible stabbing.

Carroll County deputies were dispatched to 70 Farmville Lane on Friday night at 8:40 p.m. after 911-Dispatch received a call of a dispute at this residence. Responding deputies found a 17-year-old juvenile with a severe stab wound to his abdomen, in the home, Gardner said.

The juvenile victim was transported to Oakland Elementary School and flown by helicopter to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. where he was listed in serious condition. After a brief search of the area, officers located the 16-year-old suspect walking on Pipers Gap Road, Gardner advised. The suspect was taken into custody by Carroll County deputies and transported to the Sheriff’s Office.

Corporal David Walls obtained charges on the 16-year-old suspect for Aggravated Malicious Wounding, and he was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Christiansburg. Gardner said the investigation into the stabbing is continuing. Deputies Billy Johnson, Bobby Melton and Cpl. Chuck Edwards also assisted in the investigation.
