Felony child abuse charges have been placed against a pair of Carroll County residents after a 4-year-old child suffered serious burns.
Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were called to Twin County Regional Hospital on November 6 in reference to a 4-year-old child who had been burned, Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner said. Medical staff at the hospital feared that the burns did not appear to be accidental and they appeared to be serious enough, the child was transported to Brenner’s Children’s hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Gardner said the burns were to the child’s buttocks and hands.
Gardner said Investigator’s developed enough information after consulting with Commonwealth’s Attorney Nathan Lyons to obtain aggravated malicious wounding and child abuse charges against Donnie Edwin Terry, 30, of Suncrest Lane, Hillsville. Both charges are Felonies. Donnie Terry is being held in the New River Regional Jail under no bond. Terry is not the child’s father, Gardner added.
Felony child abuse charges were also placed against the child’s mother, Lillian Trevilian, who was arrested and held in the New River Regional Jail under a $3,000 bond.
