Cana home destroyed by Thursday morning fire

Hot spots in the remains of an older, one-story frame home re-ignite a small fire early Thursday morning at 1249 Bear Trail Road. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.


The cause of an early morning fire Thursday in Cana is under investigation. According to Cana Volunteer Fire Department Chief Richard Sowers, no one was at the home at the time of the blaze, which destroyed the one-story frame home at 1249 Bear Trail Road.

Sowers said the call was received at 5:50 a.m. and first responders arrived to find the structure engulfed in flame. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. CVFD served as the primary company responding to the fire and was assisted by Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Volunteer Fire Department from Surry County, N.C.
