Home destroyed in Friday morning fire in Hillsville


Smoke billows from a one-and-a-half story home on Kenmore Road in Hillsville on Friday morning as first responders fight the blaze. The home was destroyed. According to Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Donnie Spangler, all family members got out alive and are being assisted by The Red Cross. No cause for the fire has been determined.

Fire fighters search out and suppress hot spots in a house fire Friday morning. No injuries were reported in connection with the structure fire on Kenmore Road. Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department served as the primary unit fighting the blaze. Other fire departments assisting included Laurel Fork, Cana, and The City of Galax; Carroll County Fire and Rescue, Pipers Gap Rescue Squad and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred before 10 a.m. and the structure was fully involved when units arrived.
