Well-known artist P. Buckley Moss was in attendance at the April 30 performance of “Thunder in the Hills” at the historic courthouse in Hillsville. Ms. Moss used this occasion to announce, via Greg Goad board member of the Carroll County Historical Society, that she will be painting a new picture with the J. Sidna Allen house as its focal point. The painting will be presented to the Historical Society upon completion.
Currently the Friends of the J. Sidna Allen House are selling raffle tickets on Ms. Moss’ painting “Mountain Music.” This painting which was published in 1993 and is now out of print features five musicians standing with the J. Sidna Allen house on a knoll in the background. This print is number 55 of 1000 and was framed by Framers Daughter in Galax.
Tickets are available at the Carroll County Museum for $5 each or 3 for $10. The museum is located in on the first floor of the historic Courthouse at 515 N. Main Street, Hillsville. Hours are 10:30 AM-4 PM Tuesday through Friday and from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturdays; telephone 276-728-4113.
