Downtown crash sends one to Baptist Hospital

People assist Carroll County Fire and Rescue personnel as they remove an elderly driver from an upturned Toyota Camry on North Main Street near the offices of Attorney Dwight Compton. According to sources on the scene the elderly driver was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The accident scene has been cleared and the normal flow of traffic has resumed. No details were given at the scene pending the ongoing investigation by Hillsville Police Department Officer David Johnson.

A Tuesday afternoon crash involving three vehicles on North Main Street in Hillsville has sent one to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem,N.C.

No official word on the nature of the injuries or cause of the accident was given at the scene pending an investigation by Hillsville Police Department (HPD) Officer David Johnson. The accident occurred after noon on North Main near the offices of Attorney Dwight Compton and is believed to have involved three vehicles, a Ford Escape, a Toyota Camry and Compton’s vehicle (which was parked), an Infinity 637x. Witnesses at the scene described the driver of the Camry, which overturned on top of the Infinity sedan, as an elderly female. The driver of the Ford Escape was examined by rescue personnel and appeared to have no serious injuries.
