Attending law enforcement from other state and local law enforcement agencies included Alexandria Police Department, Charlottesville Police Department, Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries Conservation Police, Virginia DMV Investigator, Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Chesterfield Police Department, Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, and Wytheville Police Department.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers and well-wishers from all across Virginia and North Carolina came to pay their final respects to Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Curtis A. Bartlett on March 15.

Bartlett, 32, was tragically killed in a traffic accident while responding to a chase March 9 in Hillsville. In attendance with local residents and family were hundreds of local and state law enforcement personnel from as far away as the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Fairfax County Police motorcycles in Northern Virginia and the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

There were also officers from the City of Albemarle (N.C.) Police Department, where Bartlett first worked in law enforcement. The service was held at First Baptist Church in Galax, where Deputy Bartlett’s father is the pastor.

Dignitaries in attendance included Virginia Deputy Secretary of Public Safety Curtis Brown, Virginia Senator Bill Carrico, Virginia Senator David Suetterlein, Virginia Delegate Israel O’Quinn, and Virginia Delegate Jeffrey Campbell.
