Hillsville Town Attorney Andrea Tolbert has tendered her resignation, effective January 31 for the post. Tolbert confirmed she has served the Town for five years in this capacity.
She said over her tenure the criminal docket for the town and the Hillsville Police Department’s size has tripled since she began. She said in addition to this the workload in her private practice has increased exponentially, taking away from important family time.
“I decided to refocus and concentrate on my private practice so I could tuck my two boys in at night,” Tolbert said. She said her understanding was a number of candidates have already indicated they are interested in the position and the town is actively seeking a replacement for the post. Tolbert said she anticipates no disruption to the Town in the interim.
Tolbert is a partner in the firm with her father, Timothy. She is a graduate of the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law, J.D. According to the firm’s web site, Tolbert & Tolbert, LLP serves clients across Southwest Virginia, including Carroll, Patrick, Grayson, Wythe and Floyd Counties.
