A two-car collision Saturday resulted in two being transported from the accident scene for treatment of what appeared to be serious injuries. According to Virginia State Police Sgt. T.S. Todd, the accident occurred at 7:55 a.m. on Paul’s Creek Road about two-tenths of a mile from Flower Gap Road.
According to accident report information filed by State Trooper R.D. Horton, the driver of a 2014 Honda Civic is identified as Sara Johnson, 27, of Cana and Patty Marsh, 46, also of Cana, was identified as the driver of a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo.
The report indicates Johnson’s Civic crossed the center line of the road, striking Marsh’s vehicle head on. Damages to Johnson’s car are estimated at $40,000 while damages to Marsh’s car were estimated at $6,500. Todd said Johnson was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment. The report indicates Marsh was also transported for treatment but does not name which hospital. A juvenile passenger in Marsh’s car was treated for minor injuries following the accident.
Charges are pending in connection with the incident. Horton’s report says Johnson was traveling in excess of a safe speed, which is specified 35-miles per hour for the particular curve. The posted speed limit in the area is 55 miles per hour. The air bags deployed on both vehicles and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
