Lindsay Compton - Advertising Sales Executive

About Lindsay Compton:

I am a native of Carroll County. I started working at the Mount Airy News in April 2016 & came to The Carroll News in April 2017.
I graduated from Carroll County High School and Radford University with a B.S. in Media Studies.
After college, I worked for The News Messenger and The Radford News Journal. Eventually I moved back to Carroll County and worked as a Legal Assistant among other jobs.
I enjoy being back in the newspaper business in my hometown. It's great to be able to work with all the extraordinary people in our small town.

Allen Worrell - Editor

About Allen Worrell:

Allen Worrell, Editor of The Carroll News, is a native of Carroll County and a graduate of Carroll County High School and Emory & Henry College. He started as a sports writer at The Mount Airy News, where he moved up to Sports Editor after one year. After five years there, he moved to The Carroll News, where he has been since 2004.

Allen was named Regional Media Person of the Year by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association while at The Mount Airy News, and he has won Virginia Press Association awards for sports writing and news writing at The Carroll News.


David Broyles - Staff Writer

About David Broyles:

David Broyles is a native of Narrows, Virginia, where he saw more than his share of synchronicity. His hobbies (beekeeping, chicken raising, gardening and cooking), reflect that. He has served as education reporter for The Mount Airy News, staff writer for The Virginian Leader and news and public service director for WRAD & WRIQ radio in Radford, Virginia and a whole hunka hunka retail.

Amber Dowell - Classifieds/Circulation

About Amber Dowell:

Amber Dowell, the Customer Service Representative for The Carroll News, is a native of Carroll County and has been with the paper since February of 2016. In this role she assists customers with their circulation needs and with classified ads.

Prior to coming to The Carroll News, she worked in the restaurant industry. She is a 2013 graduate of Carroll County High School and Wytheville Community College, where she graduated with a Clerical Studies Certificate.

She enjoys meeting new folks in Hillsville and Carroll County, either through the daily phone contact she has with customers or by the numerous face-to-face meetings she has with the readers of The Carroll News.
