The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is in search of a real-life Grinch who tried to steal Christmas in Cana.
According to Sheriff J.B. Gardner, a home on Peakview Road in Cana was broken into at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Gardner said a burglar busted in the back door of the home, stole a television and Christmas presents from under the Christmas tree. Included in those Christmas packages were presents for a young child who lives at the residence.
Gardner said the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has taken a special interest in this case.
“There is no reason for something like this. You don’t steal children’s toys at Christmas. It makes you mad,” Gardner said. “Somebody somewhere knows who did this. They know this is wrong and they will help us with it.”
Gardner asked for anyone with information to call the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 728-4146. He said it is the second time the home has been broken into since October. Fortunately, Gardner said the determined mother of the home was able to replace the presents in time for Christmas.
“But it’s still not right to steal Christmas packages,” Gardner said. “I hate it for the family.”
