Jury recommends Whittington serve five years for drug conviction

A 45-year-old Woodlawn man faces a five-year prison sentence after being convicted on drug charges in a jury trial Aug. 28 in Carroll County.

According to Carroll County Commonwealth’s Attorney Nathan H. Lyons, Aaron Leslie Whittington, 45, of Woodlawn, was convicted by a jury on August 28 of three counts of Distribution of Marijuana and one count of Possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute.

The jury recommended a sentence of five years total - four years on the three counts of distribution of marijuana, and one year on the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, Lyons said. Formal sentencing is set for Oct. 23 by Carroll County Circuit Court Judge Brett Geisler. Whittington is currently incarcerated serving his sentence, Lyons said.

The case was investigated and handled by the Twin County Drug Task Force with the assistance of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
